Casa Grande Cooper’s - Cooper’s Hawk

“I was co-leading a group of birders on a day trip south of Phoenix and one of our stops was a golf course pond that was good for ducks, coots and usually some passerines in the shrubs. This morning, the place was dead. No wonder, there was a juvenile Cooper’s Hawk in a bare tree next to the pond. She finally took off when something caught her eye and our little birds came alive.”
