“We see the swans each year, but often they are off in the distance of the marshes. Every so often, they come right to the edge of the road or trail where people can get a close view of these magnificent birds.

“I enjoy painting the swans as a study in high key values. They may appear white, but there are many, many colors as they pick up tones from the water, the marsh grasses, the sky and clouds, and the warm light at sunrise and sunset. It’s always a challenge, but a satisfying one when the painting is complete.”
